In January 09 I bought a 14-24 f/2.8 lens.
Camera D700.
When I was trying the lens out I found out that one of light rays (when taking pictures directly towards the sun) was stretched towards bottom of the sensor.
The camera was sent to the service. About a week later I received an information that there was such an effect indeed when shooting at times shorter than 1/1000 sec. It was also confirmed by a Nikon's helpdesk worker. The camera was returned to me with a comment "camera meets the standard".
I spoke to a person at the service and asked to put my case through to the main office and requested an answer as soon as possible.
It is october 2009 now and I still haven't got any answer. I've got nothing agains the people that served me. But geting no response after such a long time is really wrong.
EDIT:
The case is really about the D700, not the 14-24 lens. This effect was achieveable with other lenses too.
