My story happened quite a long time ago. During shooting a local bicycle race, the camera suddenly refused to cooperate. The pictures were over exposed, it kept switching off and on and finally after half an hour it died completely.
It was when the cameras value was at today D90's price level, or even slightly higher and it managed to work for full two years! My curiosity led me to doing some research on the internet what could be the reason of such behaviour. It turned out it was a common fault and the cameras were exchanget into new ones. But obviously not here, only in USA. In addition to that, there was no official information at the polish Nikon webpage. Well...

I didn't manage to phone through to the service (approx 40 calls). But I asked my friend, who used to go to Warsaw, to take my camera and deliver it to the service personally. The claim was accepted - I provided relevant webpage links and a full fault description. The camera came back to me fully working and fixed under warranty (for free). Only thing is that it took two months, despite a two week timeframe declared.
In the meantime, being prepared to wait a long time, I bought a D70s which I use until now and put the old one for sale. As one can see, the approach to the customer hasn't changed.
Unfortunately I can provide neither any pictures nor a reference number, as this happened quite a long time ago.
